“Many organisms display sexual dimorphism
(morphological differences between sexes),
such as species of butterflies, birds,
and humans as a whole.”
This strikes me as a half-truth.
Birds and butterflies I get,
But I’m blind to the ways
We both seem to differ.
I take showers with the lights on,
Unable to hide from the sight.
I note mosquito welts, two nipples,
the shadow of pubic hair, untrimmed.
I catch him looking in the mirror too,
When he thinks I’m not looking.
Marks on his back, two nipples
And the shadow of chest hair.
Sometimes he kisses the dip
Of my shoulder only to say
“Your back looks like mine.”
And despite my sense, I believe.
