Heat and Harvest / Beena E. S

season of sweat and harvest,
the sun’s burning zeal unfolds,
rivers dry, earth cracks;
labourers sigh seeking mercy
dawn arrives early with burning rays aglow,
noon’s intensity leaves all in a shimmer.
evenings dull, with no respite at sight,
tea and coffee fail to revive
drenched and parched, thirst unappeased,
longing for rain, hearts unease
heat envelops, a burning, fierce grasp;
more than a mere bath, a soothing coolness to clasp.
sweat, like a river, flows with no resting place,
birds flit, flutter, in search of water.

nature’s cycle, a story to portray,
of summer’s fury and its gentle way.
its kindness shows in the fruit-laden tree,
ripened jackfruits, and mangoes with a sweet face.
golden hues and sweet aromas fill the air,
pomegranates burst with juicy flair.
a symphony of flavours in the summer’s light,
trees stand tall like sentinels bright.

summer’s duality, a reminder to admire,
the fiery heat and the fruitful bloom’s fire.
a tale of hardship and grace,
etched in time, in every place.
