The Tower Pavilion / Hiromi Suzuki

Someone knocks on the door. A trick of the wind. A glassblower smoking dead branches with paper dolls and ping-pong balls in a flask. The sound of rain, scissors cutting the cinders.

Dance competitions used to be held every weekend on the north coast. Looking through the kaleidoscope, ladies in chiffon dresses could be seen spinning and shattering into colours.

Numerous pumps with broken heels searching for a lost pair. The shadow of the glassblower plays back the mosaic tiles frame by frame, piling up fragments of the missing story.

hiromi suzuki is a poet, fiction writer, artist living in Tokyo. Her writing has appeared in 3:AM Magazine, RIC journal, Berfrois, Minor Literature[s] and various literary journals on-line.
