You could be the subject of a poem
but I don’t write poetry (Ana Teresa Pereira); thankfully
a good poem needs me not. Me, I just want to read
then one day began to write; still don’t quite know
what it is to write, but stilling myself started
to listen to something starting startling within
trusting it knows more than me so

hoping it be not just to follow but also
entails a measure of being, maybe in
my entrails. I believed that I wanted to be a poet,
but deep down I wanted to be a poem (Enrique Vila-Matas).
I could be the subject of a poem but you don’t
write poetry.
